Plumbing, Wastes and Drains

Aims:

By the end of this course you will be able to identify the main components of a domestic plumbing system. You will understand how a plumbing and drainage system functions. You will be able to use questioning techniques to identify simple defects relating to plumbing and drainage, and to suggest appropriate remedial works.

You will have the opportunity to see and handle common plumbing components, and will use the plumbing display in the Upkeep Exhibition to get practical experience of diagnosing defects and identifying and naming components.

Please note: this course does not teach you how to be a plumber!

Designed for:

Non-technical staff working in housing or property management who take repairs requests and order works. Also suitable for non-technical staff who visit properties to check conditions. Suitable for anyone who wants a good basic understanding of how plumbing systems work.
