Aims:

This course is designed to give you a good basic introduction to domestic electrical and heating services.

By the end of this course you will be able to identify the main components of domestic electrical installations. You will be able to diagnose simple electrical defects and carry out basic safety checks.

By the end of the course you will also be able to identify the main types of domestic heating systems and their components. You will understand the key terminology and be able to identify the main types of heating controls. You will be able to describe some of the common problems that occur, as well as the remedies required.

Please note: this course does not teach you how to be an electrician!

Designed for:

This course has been designed for non-technical staff who need an understanding of heating systems and basic electrics in order to complete repairs orders: housing officers, customer service officers, admin staff, receptionists. Also for non-technical staff who visit tenants and carry out inspections.

Key Points:

This course forms one module of the Upkeep/City and Guilds Certificate in Diagnosing Defects and Ordering Repairs.
