Introduction:

Upkeep offers a range of courses on property inspection, specification writing, adaptations and contracts. We have found that delegates often don’t have good measuring skills and frequently lack confidence and in preparing and interpreting measured drawings and plans. These skills are essential if you need to prepare good specifications and get works done as required.

Aims:

This course will give you a good basic introduction to measuring skills and reading and understanding technical drawings and plans.

By the end of the day, delegates will understand the importance of accurate measuring skills for a wide variety of tasks. Delegates will understand types of measurements that are commonly used, and will practice making and recording a variety of measurements.

By the end of the day will also be able to identify different types of technical drawings and plans and their uses, and will be better able to read them accurately.

Designed for:

This course is designed for non-technical staff and junior technical staff who need to be able to measure buildings and building elements. This course is suitable for staff who need to be able to produce accurate specifications for works such as adaptations or minor repairs and alterations, and for people who need to be able to read and interpret plans and technical drawings.
