About the Charities FM GroupAimsThe Charities FM Group is an informal network that aims to help voluntary sector organisations get the best from their buildings and services. We promote peer-to-peer networking and the exchange of knowledge and experience between individuals and organisations. We aim to be a useful resource for charities of all sizes -- from large organisations with major property investments to small charities who may renting a few rooms. BackgroundThe Charities FM Group was set up in 2000, following discussions between the Director of Upkeep and the then Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation. We both had concerns about property and accommodation issues, and we realised that a lot of other people in the voluntary sector probably had similar worries. We decided to set up a special interest group. We held our first meeting in 2001. The Group has been growing ever since. MembersOver 200 charities are members of the CFM Group. The variety of our membership makes our meetings interesting: the people who come to meetings can range from heads of facilities management who manage teams of people and large portfolios of varied properties, to the office administrators of small organisations who may deal with buildings as an "add-on" to their regular job. We aim to be a useful resource for all of our members, whatever size their charity. |
