Upkeep
Upkeep is a charity that
teaches people how to look after buildings.
Aims:
We believe everyone should
have the opportunity to learn about their homes and how they work.
We promote good practice in the repair, maintenance
and improvement of buildings through education and training.
Activities:
Our main resource is the
Upkeep Exhibition, a permanent exhibition about buildings and how to look
after them. The Exhibition is at the Building Centre in Central London
and is a valuable learning facility.
Upkeep delivers a busy programme of training courses
and seminars about buildings and building repairs and maintenance. All fees go back into delivering training and maintaining
the Upkeep Exhibition.
An
Independent Voice:
Upkeep is a fully independent body. We offer impartial
advice and information.
Status:
Upkeep is an educational charity (Registered Charity
Number 277351) and a Company Limited by Guarantee, registered in England
(No. 1409696).
We are governed by a Board of Trustees and a Governing
Council.
Finances:
Like many charities, Upkeep has to charge fees
for its services to make ends meet. We weclome support to help us continue to promote our important
messages about good practice in construction and home maintenance. |
Learning about Insulation at the Upkeep Exhibition
We believe good maintenance is a key component of environmental sustainability for buildings. At the Upkeep Exhibition visitors can see an example of a fully insulated loft with detailed guidance on loft and pipe insulation.
